Barbara Moon Williams

Barbara Moon Williams, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Eagle Springs on September 6th, 2025.

Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, on March 19th, 1940, Barbara grew up in Lumberton, where she graduated from Lumberton High School. She studied music at Bob Jones University; Trinity Bible College in Clearwater, Florida; Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, North Carolina; and later St. Andrews Presbyterian College, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education.

While at Flora MacDonald, Barbara met the love of her life, Clement M. Williams, a student at Presbyterian Junior College. He proposed to her on the causeway at St. Andrews, and they were soon married. Together, they built a loving home in Eagle Springs and raised four children.

Barbara devoted her life to music and education. She began her career teaching at Pinehurst High School, leading the music program and Glee Club. She later taught at Episcopal Day School and Sandhills Community College, where she instructed in Music Theory, Piano, and Performance Labs, and served as accompanist for the Sandhills Community College Choir. She also taught private piano lessons for more than a decade from her home, inspiring countless students with her passion for music.

For over 30 years, Barbara faithfully served as organist and choir director at Bensalem Church, where she also led the youth group and Bible School music programs. Beyond her professional and church work, she volunteered at the Clara McLean House and served on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Symphony, the Arts Council of Moore County, and FirstHealth of the Carolinas Moore Regional Hospital. She was also a faithful member of the LAMBS (Ladies (AM) Morning Bible Study) in Pinehurst.

Barbara loved to travel with her husband, paint beautiful oil works that now grace the homes of her family, and most of all, spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Eugene and Anna Sullivan Moon; her brother, Rev. Kenneth E. Moon; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Moon.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clement M. Williams; her children Greg Williams (Charlotte) of Eagle Springs, April Carpenter (Tim) of Seven Lakes, Brad Williams (Michelle) of Hillsborough, and Clif Williams (Carter) of Richmond VA; grandchildren Sullivan Schenck (Jonathan); Garrett Williams, Raley Liles (Michael), Connor Williams (Breanna), Lindsey Doss (Cole), Abigail Shook (Carter), Sam Williams (Grace), Jack Carpenter (Gracie), Stella and Luke Williams, Liberty and Isabella Williams. As well as great grandchildren, Anna Charlotte, Ellis, and Ned Schenck, Isla Jane and Jameson Liles, Creed Williams (Connor and Breanna), Hunter Doss, Campbell and Laurence Williams (Sam and Grace) who brought her endless joy.
