Betty "Marie" Owens Brown, age 88, of Robbins, passed away on May 5, 2026, at Magnolia Gardens in Southern Pines.

Marie was born on March 14, 1938, in Montgomery County to James and Betty Lawson Owens. Marie worked in the hosiery mill for many years until her retirement.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Cranford Brown, grandchildren Angela Allred and Truman Burton; sisters Angie Lawson, Georgia McNeill, Lena Mabe; brothers Carl Owens, Ray Owens and Garl Owens.

She is survived by her daughters, Tina Anderson, Debbie Cockman (Bill) Wahl, and Tammy Brown. Grandchildren Jay Sheffield, Jeremiah Wahl, and Emily Cockman; as well as great grandchildren Trent Williams, Kiana Williams, Nathan Allred, Megan Allred, McKayla Sheffield, and Haley Michelle Sheffield.


A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Brown's Chapel Chrisitan Church at 2:00 pm with Pastor Shaun Garner officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the graveside from 1:00-1:45 pm.
