Charles Richard Gibbs

Jackson Springs - Charles Richard Gibbs, 70, of 2601 Hoffman Road, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 2, 2011, at Bensalem Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dr. Mark Andrew Carver officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Gibbs was born in Elkhart, Indiana to Richard and Henrietta Myers Gibbs. He was a 20 year veteran of the US Air Force and a retired captain of a charter fishing boat, where he was known as "Captain Charlie Gibbs". He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Bagley Gibbs; daughter, Corina Smith, of Little River, SC; sons, Daniel Gibbs of Myrtle Beach, SC, Eric Gibbs of Myrtle Beach, SC; step-daughters, Sherry Ann Smith of Biscoe, B.J. Richardson of Biscoe; five grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at Bensalem Presbyterian Church, 2891 Bensalem Church Road, Eagle Springs, NC 27242. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Foundation of FirstHealth, Reid Heart Center, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
