Colvin Lee Brown

Star - Colvin Lee Brown, a longtime resident of Star, passed away peacefully Saturday evening the 10th of May in Mansfield, Texas. He was born in Biscoe, NC on October 13, 1924 to John Turner and Molly Freeman Brown. Colvin was a valued citizen of Montgomery County being part of that strong generation that re-built America after his service to his county during World War II. Receiving his initial training in his dad's garage, after returning from the war, he became well known in the area as a respected auto mechanic, eventually serving as a service manager for dealerships in Star, Asheboro and Troy for most of his career. He was preceded in death in January 1979, by his wife, Dorothy Pearl Lilly, of Seagrove. Colvin is survived by two sons, Steven Turner Brown of Gloucester, VA and Roland Lee Brown of Midlothian, TX. Steve and Donna blessed Colvin with two grandchildren, Shar Mills and Scott Brown, each residing in the Tidewater, VA area and a total of five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. A graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Whynot Cemetery, located on Fork Creek Mill Road (SR-1002) off of highway 705 East, Seagrove. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. A graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Whynot Cemetery, located on Fork Creek Mill Road (SR-1002) off of highway 705 East, Seagrove.
