David Thomas McAlister

David Thomas McAlister, Sr. 83, of 1400 Cotton Creek Rd., Biscoe, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 23, at Maness Family Cemetery, 168 McAlister Lane, Biscoe, with the Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Mr. McAlister was born in Montgomery County to Ezra Eugene and Minnie Maness McAlister. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Mr. McAlister was a retired farmer and seafood processor with Southern Seafood Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church Biscoe. Surviving are his wife, Vera Williamson McAlister, of the home; Son, David Thomas McAlister, Jr. and wife, Gail, of Biscoe, NC; Daughters, Lois Poole and husband, Linwood, of Wendell, NC, Barbara Smith and husband, Jerry, of Biscoe, NC, Sylvia McAlister of Sanford, NC; Sisters, Nancy McInnis of Rockingham, NC, Rebecca Allison of Matthews, NC, Carol Myers and husband, Roy, of Biscoe, NC, Jane Greene of Star, NC Martha McAlister of Aberdeen, NC; Grandchildren, Amie Poole Blake, Thomas Reid McAlister, Jeremy Smith, Crystal McAlister Spivey, Mary D. Smith; Great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Maegan McAlister, Tucker and Meredith Spivey, Tyler and Layla Smith; Mr. McAlister was predeceased by his granddaughter, Meredith Smith. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, August 22, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
