Donald Paul Smith Sr.

Donald Paul Smith Sr., age 70, of Candor passed away on November 3, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Smith was born in Moore County on March 9, 1956, to Ervin and Mattie McDuffie Smith. Donald worked in the logging industry for many years. He loved to go hunting and fishing and was a NASCAR fan.

He was preceded in death by his sister Roberta Ritter and brother Ray Smith.

He is survived by his son Donald "Donnie" Smith Jr. (Julie) of Candor, wife Susan Latham Smith (Davie) of Biscoe, sisters Louise Goodwin of Candor, Betty Mauldin of Troy; grandchildren Breanna, Benjamin and Hunter; great grandchildren Waylon and Harper.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Phillips Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Candor Cemetery at 11:00 am with Billy Dunn officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Donald's memory to FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst, NC 28374.
