Seagrove - Doris King Stevens, 82, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 28, 2016, at Asbury Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Joshua Hughes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Stevens was born in Montgomery County to Bascom and Vellie Cole King. She was a seamstress, loved quilting, and owned and operated King Road Pottery.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Molly Reeder, Virginia Shelton, Ida Auman, Gatha Bym; brothers, Elrin, Lamon, Grady, Rochie, Evin, and Lenard King.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Hardy Hayden and husband, Steve, of Seagrove, Joan Leeann Collins of Seagrove; brothers, Reece King of Seagrove, Don King of Asheboro, Michael King of Carolina Beach; grandchildren, Andy Hayden of Asheboro, Danielle Boggs of Star, Misty Spivey of Biscoe; great-grandchildren, Lauren Hayden, Conner Hayden, Becky Boggs, Amber Boggs, Chloe Spivey, Annabelle Spivey, and Rileigh Spivey.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at 341 King Road, Seagrove.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
