Dorothy Mildred Rhoades Russell

Star - Dorothy Mildred "Dusty" Rhoades Russell, 94, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kay Boone officiating. Interment will be in Leach Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Phillips Funeral Home in Star.

Mrs. Russell was born in Stanton, Michigan on April 14, 1922 to Norman J. and Nora Miller Rhoades. She was a graduate of Stanton High School and trained for nursing at Carney-Wilcox Hospital in Alma, Michigan.

She married Silas H. Russell on December 17, 1943 and moved to Moultrie, Georgia, where he served in the Air Force during WWII. They have made their home in Star since November of 1945. She was a member of Star United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry W. Russell, and ten brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Silas H. Russell, of the home; daughter, Mildred Russell, of Greensboro; sons, Harry Russell (Ruth) and David Russell, all of Star; brother, Mark Rhoades (Marie) of Saranac, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
