Edna Wiles Thompson

Edna Wiles Thompson, 82, of 401 Brewer Street, Star, died May 14, 2011 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. A graveside service is planned for 2:00 pm, Monday, May 16, at Leach Cemetery in Star with the Rev. Gene Davis presiding. Mrs. Thompson was born in Wilkes County to Marvin Theodore and Grace Holland Wiles. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was retired from Clayson Knitting Company. Surviving are her Two Sons : Tony Thompson and wife, Mary, of Perry, SC Howard Thompson and wife, Joanne, of Robbins, NC Four Sisters: Virginia Stambaugh and husband, Homer, of Pennsylvania Helen Bumgarner of Charlotte, NC Irene Russell and husband, Garland, of Hildabran, NC Nancy Allen of Hickory, NC One Brother: Douglas Wiles and wife, Rita, of Statesville, NC Eight Grandchildren: Melissa Thompson, Tony Thompson, Jr., Angela Brown, Chris Thompson, Jeremy Davis, Scott Thompson, Judy Chapman, and Mandy Laborde Twelve Great-Grandchildren and Three Great-Great-Grandchlidren The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 pm Sunday, May 15, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star, NC. At other times, the family will be at the home of Jean Sullivan, 200 Harper St., Star.
