Eugene Curtis Maness

Troy - Eugene Curtis Maness, 58, of Old Thayer Mill Road, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Blue Family Cemetery with the Rev. Edwin Moore officiating. Mr. Maness was born in Chatham County. He was a former supervisor at Ramtex and also served as a volunteer fireman at Ramseur and Westmoore Fire Departments. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Haven Maness. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lax Maness, of the home; son, Brian Maness, of High Falls; step-children, Clyde Ray Freeman II and Michael Lee Freeman, both of Star and Sherri Blue and husband, Bryan, of Troy; mother, Sylvia Jean Helms, of Biscoe; brother, Rickey Maness, of Laurinburg; sisters, Diane Hernandez of Deep River, CT, Nellie Hinson of Biscoe, and Sandra Villagomez of Robbins; 17 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. At other times, they will be at the homes of Nellie Hinson, 640 Samarcand Road, Biscoe and Sherri and Bryan Blue, 228 Old Thayer Mill Road, Troy. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Blue Family Cemetery with the Rev. Edwin Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
