Evelyn Hunt Cox

Evelyn Hunt Cox, 79, of Troy, died Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February, 28, at Leach Road Holiness Church with the Rev. Hubert McLeod, Rev, Billy Chriscoe, and Rev. Wilmer Brewer officiating. Interment will be in Ophir United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Cox was born in Montgomery County to Carl James and Laurie Hurley Hunt. She worked in the furniture industry. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Jerry Hunt, Jake Dunn, Reggie Hunt, Clifton Hunt, and Tom Hunt.

Surviving are her son, Walter Harris "Batman" Cox of Troy; daughter, Cathy Chappell of Troy; brothers, Roy Lee Hunt of Denton, Joe Hunt of Troy, Hughes Dunn of Troy; sisters, Carolyn Hunt Newsome of Troy, Frances Hunt Harris of Troy; grandchildren, Tina and Jerrard Forney, Billy Hicks, Tasha Hicks; great-grandchildren, Deja and Shemel Harris, Isaiah Hicks, Toni Bailey, Faith Bailey, Davion Chappell, Kharma Forney, Kiara Ruffin, Julianna Hicks; and, great-great-grandchildren, Jaiden Hill, Naomi Harris.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, February 27, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
