BISCOE - Frances "Tom" Dennis Sheffield, 90, died on August 11, 2014 at Autumn Care of Biscoe where she had been a resident for the past two years. Her funeral service will be held at Ether United Methodist Church on August 14, 2014 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Kay Boone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Sheffield was one of nine children born to W. C. and Josie Wallace Floyd. She was a life-long member of Ether United Methodist Church and was retired from the U. S. Postal Service after serving the community of Star as postmistress/clerk for thirty years. Her goal in life was to practice the golden rule, a bible verse she lived by daily. She was a lovely lady who will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sheffield was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Sheffield, three brothers, three sisters, and one daughter. Surviving is a family that loved her unconditionally: son, Dan Dennis and wife, Carol; daughters, Mary Beth Torrence and husband, Larry, and Dawn Jackson and husband, Sammy; son-in-law, Donald Brewer, husband of Joey; sisters, Catherine Parsons and Betty Maynard; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends after the service. At other times, the family will be at 106 Pine Street, Biscoe, NC. Memorial contributions may be made to Ether United Methodist Church, PO Box 156, Ether, NC 27247. The family wishes to thank the kind and loving caregivers at Autumn Care as well as FirstHealth Hospice for their support during her final days. Funeral service will be held at Ether United Methodist Church on August 14, 2014 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Kay Boone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service.
