Glenn H. Lucas Star - Glenn Hillary Lucas, age 83, of 237 Flint Hill Road, died Monday, December 15, 2008, at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Macedonia UMC (Abner Community), where he was a member, with the Rev. Ronald Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Mr. Lucas was born in Montgomery County to the late George Hillary and Rachel Shuping Lucas. He was a retired knitting mechanic with Renfro. He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy and US Army. Surviving is his wife, Merlene Callicutt Lucas, of the home; nephew, Josh Callicutt, of the home; brothers, Hal Lucas of Star, Buddy Lucas of Havelock; sisters, Helen Burns of Asheboro, Kate Bell of Asheboro, Naomi Nichols of Star, Margie Royal of Troy. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Phillips Funeral Home in Star and other times at the home.
