Hobert Gurrit Beane

Hobert Gurrit Beane, age 83, of Star passed away peacefully in his home on January 17, 2026.

Born in Randolph County on August 21, 1942, to Tom and Pearl Beane. Hobert worked for many years at Carolina Custom Chair in Asheboro, NC until his retirement. He was an expert bandsaw operator for years. He enjoyed making wooden things, dancing, and playing his guitar and banjo. He will be remembered for his vibrant personality and zest, as well as being a hardworking man who was dedicated to his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Beane, Mitchell Beane, and Pete Beane, sisters Frances Dunn and Hazel Sanders.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wilma Boggs Beane of the home; son Tom Beane (Susan); daughters Vickie Callicutt (Buddy), Marticia Newson (Alex) and son Timothy Beane (Shanna), and brother Gurney Beane (Debra). Grandchildren Charlie Callicutt (Kacey), Tia Bennett (Hampton), Christina Coalson (Michael), Tommy Beane, Susanna Beane, Amber Hunt (Dewayne), Katey Bibey (Jonathan), Carl Beane (Megan), Timothy Beane Jr. (Kierra), Tristen Garner, and William Beane (Alissa). As well as twenty-two great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Big Oak Church of God with Rev. Darryl Wright officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-1:50pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
