Hoyet Lee Dunn

Hoyet Lee Dunn, age 83, of Star, passed away on July 13, 2026, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living.

Mr. Dunn was born in Montgomery County on September 14, 1942, to Hagie and Lola Lucas Dunn. Hoyet was a poultry farmer most of his life and he also worked in the hosiery mill as a fixer. He enjoyed spending time with his family; and had a laugh that would make anybody smile.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jewel Dunn, son Larry Dunn and brothers Roger Dunn and Garland Dunn; sisters Brenda Presler and Loretta Tester.

He is survived by his daughter Sharon Singleton (Jr.) of McLeansville, NC; son Ronnie Dunn of Star; sister Teresa Brady of Eagle Springs and brother Tim Dunn (Tammy) of Star. Grandchildren Rose Anna Sessoms (Tony), Chris Dunn (Flo), Ron Dunn, Justin Dunn (Amanda), Dwight Singleton, Daniel Singleton (Sara) and Summer Dunn. As well as great grandchildren Cheyenne and Lucas Sessoms, Dakota, River, Ethan, Miles and Sydney Dunn; Maddox and Madelynn Dunn, Noah and Sadie Singleton and baby Dunn (due in October).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Phillips Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church at 11:00 am with Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
