James Clyde Brewer

James "Jim" Clyde Brewer, age 83, of 590 Glen Road, Troy, NC died Friday, August 20, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 23, at Star United Methodist Church in Star, with the Rev. Kay Boone officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military rites. Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife, Peggy McMillan Brewer, of the home; two daughters, Teresa Caddell and husband, Darrell, of Star, and Kelly Brewer of the home; two sons, Scott Brewer and wife, Karen, of Southern Pines, and Robert Brewer of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Gregory Caddell and wife, Erin, Juanita Caddell, and Amanda Brewer; one great-grandson, Darrick Caddell. Mr. Brewer was born in Moore County to Lacy Clyde and Lola Bailey Brewer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Brewer was a retired hosiery mill employee, and a retired volunteer fireman of Star V. F. D. He was a faithful member of Star United Methodist Church where he had served on the administrative board and as president of Star United Methodist Men. He had also served as president of Sanford District United Methodist Men. The visitation for Mr. Brewer will be held on Sunday, August 22, from 6 - 8:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
