James Kenneth McQueen Sr.

James Kenneth McQueen Sr., age 92, of Star, passed away on April 20, 2024, at Woodhaven Court in Albemarle.

Mr. McQueen was born in Montgomery County on June 25, 1931, to Eli and Bessie Cagle McQueen.  He was a retired textile worker and a proud US Army and Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.  He loved to read and enjoyed riding his golf cart and spending time outside.  James was a former member of the Star Volunteer Fire Department and he was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

James is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ottie Davis McQueen of the home; sons, Ronnie McQueen (Lisa) of Sanford; Kenneth McQueen (Margaret) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Steve McQueen (Kim) of Star; and daughter, Barbara McCallum (Mike) of Hartsville, SC.  Grandchildren, Dr. Charles McCallum (Mary), Meaghan McDaniel (Jarred),and Katherine Moore (Mitchell).  Great grandchildren, AJ McCallum, Daphne McDaniel, Micah McCallum, Winnie McDaniel, Blair McDaniel, John McCallum, and James Moore.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Greene and Dr. Charles McCallum officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-1:45 pm.  Burial will follow at Dover Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by Randolph County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in James's honor to Cornerstone Baptist Church at 303 Lambert Road, Biscoe, NC 27209 or to the Wounded Warrior Project at PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS, 66675-8516.
