Janice Lassiter Allen, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on February 17, 2026.
She was born on January 6, 1941, in Johnston County, North Carolina, to the late Willie Edgar Lassiter and Carrie Lee Stephenson Lassiter. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, Jerry Allen.
Janice dedicated many years of her life to caring for others through her work as a hairdresser. She was employed at Leon’s in Greensboro, North Carolina, before opening and operating her own salon. Later, she began a long career with Energizer Battery in Asheboro, North Carolina, where she worked faithfully for 20 years before retiring in 2006. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was active in her church and found great joy in her faith and church family. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook, and especially loved spending time at the beach. Her love for her dogs brought her constant companionship and happiness.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hayes (David) of Asheboro, North Carolina; her son, Bob Dudley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her grandson, Will Hayes (Abbi) of Indian Trail, North Carolina; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Wren Hayes of Indian Trail. She is also survived by extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 6:00- 8:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home in Star, North Carolina.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Star Presbyterian Church in Star, North Carolina. Interment will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Road, Asheboro, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Star Presbyterian Church, PO Box 237, Star, NC 27356.
