Jerry Donald Allen, age 86, of Star, North Carolina, passed away at his home on December 22, 2025.
He was born on December 12, 1939, in Montgomery County, NC, to the late James Harley and Lucy Mae Morgan Allen.
Jerry was a dedicated lumberman and served as the co-owner of Troy Lumber Sales Inc. in Norman, North Carolina. In 1981, he played a pivotal role as one of the founders of the Sandhills Chapter of Quail Unlimited of North Carolina, the oldest chapter in the state, where he also served as the organization’s treasurer. He was well known as an avid bird hunter, quail enthusiast, and conservationist, and was a mentor to many who shared his passion for quail hunting. Beyond his love for the outdoors, Jerry enjoyed classic cars, playing golf, visiting the beach, and cherished time spent with his family. He was also a mason, belonging to Biscoe Masonic Lodge #437.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janice Lassiter Allen, of the home. He is also remembered by his stepdaughter, Susan Hayes (David) of Asheboro; stepson, Bob Dudley of Philadelphia; sister, Janice Williams (Glen) of Star; one step grandchild, Will Hayes (Abbi) of Indian Trail, NC; and one great-step granddaughter, Wren Hayes of Indian Trail, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Star Presbyterian Church in Star, NC, on Friday, December 26, 2025. Following the visitation, the funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at the same location, with Reverend Kim Stamey and Reverend Roger Paxton officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 3448 New Hope Church Rd, Asheboro, NC, with Masonic rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jerry's memory to the Star Presbyterian Church PO Box 237, Star, NC 27356.
