John Reece Allen

John Reece Allen, age 82 of Star, passed away on September 18, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice House.

Born on September 5, 1943, in Randolph County to James and Lucy Morgan Allen. For many years, he served as the co-owner of Troy Lumber and was an active member of Brown's Chapel Christian Church. He was also a member of Biscoe Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed dove hunting, fishing, and reading, as well as spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother J.T. Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Williams Allen of the home; daughters Tammy Maness (Greg), Donna Coble (Brian), Angela Hunsucker (Dwayne); sister Janice Williams (Glen) and brother Jerry Allen (Janice). Grandchildren Corey Maness (Katelyn), Travis Maness, Brianna Coble, Hunter Maness (Pia), and Becca Hunsucker (fiancé Michael Morris). As well as great grandchildren Alaina Maness and Carter Maness.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Phillips Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Brown's Chapel Christian Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Shaun Garner and Rev. James Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic rites.
