Seagrove - Mrs. Lynnie Dunlap Comer, formerly of Willie Road, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015.

Lynnie was born in Moore County on February 19, 1923, to Daniel Alexander and Nora Maness Dunlap. She was educated in Moore County, where she graduated from Elise Presbyterian High School in Robbins and Asheboro Commercial College. She became an accountant for Gero Accounting Firm and was office manager for Huntington Home Sales of Candor. She taught accounting at Montgomery Community College for 21 years.

Lynnie met the love of her life, Clyde E. Comer, at the Hare's farm harvest corn shucking. They were married at her parent's home.

At the age of 34, she lost her husband who had just celebrated his 40th birthday. She was left with four young children to bring up.

She established in 1969 her own accounting business in Star that she operated for 40 years.

In her lifetime, she served as president of Westmoore PTA, a 4-H club leader, where she had many state winners of distinction. She received an award from Governor Hunt for being an outstanding citizen as a Moore County volunteer.

She was the oldest member of Dover Baptist Church and was awarded a certificate for 33 years of perfect attendance. She taught Sunday School for 50 years.

Lynnie is survived by three children, Clyde Comer, Jr. and wife, Chyerl, of Seagrove, LaVonne Comer Ritter and husband, Marshall, of Seagrove, and Rosalie Comer Booker, and husband, Layton, of Candor; grandsons, Eddie Cagle, Clyde Ellis Comer III and wife, Jennifer Prince, Andrew Marshall Ritter and wife, Shirley Saunders, Lynn Ellis Cagle, Charles Layton Booker, Matthew Farrell Comer and wife, Michaelia Luther, John Lucian Ritter and wife, Susan Moffitt; granddaughters, Rhonda Cagle Mashburn and husband, June, Audra Comer Loftin, and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Angela Ritter Brady and husband, Caleb, Tyler Ritter, Katelynn Comer, Claudia Comer, Clyde Ellis Comer IV, Isabelle Mashburn, Maison and Madison Comer; and sister-in-law, Ruth Kidd Dunlap.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Maybelle Comer Cagle (Mabel); sisters, Mary D. Cockman and husband, June, Nannie Dunlap Brewer Rollins and husbands, Lonnie Brewer and Rev. William Rollins; brothers, Daniel Dunlap and wife, Phyllis Inman Dunlap, William (Bill) Dunlap and wife, Jean Barber Dunlap, Max Dunlap; niece, Janice Cockman Palagruto; nephews, Henry Martin Brewer, Robert Daniel Brewer, Lonnie Stephen Brewer.

Other family survivors are sister-in-law, Martha Comer Johnson, wife of the late Clinton Comer; brothers-in-law, Reece, husband of the late Geneva C. King, J.C. and wife, Myrtle Brewer Comer; nieces, Lorna Cockman Clack, Elizabeth Cockman Thomas, Dianah Cockman Bradshaw, Sara Nell Dunlap Dull, Iris Dunlap Davis, Karen Dunlap, Emily Dunlap Carter, Gale Dunlap Wood, Ellen Dunlap Linton; nephews, John Franklin Brewer, D.A. Cockman, William Inman Dunlap, Rex Eric Dunlap, Timothy Norris Dunlap, William (Bill) Dunlap, Andrew Byron Dunlap, and Jeffery Neal Dunlap.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Dover Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chris Bouldin, Rev. Clyde Ellis Comer III, and Rev. Johnny Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, January 1, 2016, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the home of June and Rhonda Mashburn, Beane Road, Seagrove.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Dover Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chris Bouldin, Rev. Clyde Ellis Comer III, and Rev. Johnny Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
