Mabel Upton Maness

Seagrove - Mabel Ruth Upton Maness, 78, of 1576 S Hwy 705, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Autumn Care of Biscoe. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 23, 2012, at Union Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Ronnie Chaney and Pastor Ralph Voncannon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Maness was born in Moore County to John and Ina Hogan Upton. She worked for General Electric and retired from Black & Decker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Maness. She is survived by her sisters, Eva Auman of Seagrove, Myrtle Mabe of Star, Dorothy Snow of Elizabeth City; brother, Farrell Upton, of Seagrove; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the home of Ronnie and Peggy Peters, 274 Mabe Road, Star.
