Madeline S. Kern

Star - Madeline Saunders Kern, 93, formerly of Star, died Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Leach Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph W. Forbes officiating. Mrs. Kern was born in Montgomery County to Elsie Franklin and Vandelia Parks Saunders. She was a homemaker and a member of Star United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Cube W. Kern. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Ingold and husband, Gene, of Star, Vivian Greene and husband, Gary, of Seagrove; sons, Buddy Kern and wife, Anne, of Star, Van Kern of Asheboro; sister, Georgia Hussey, of Fairfield, Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM, Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
