Biscoe - Marion Stephenson Bridgers, 98, of 143 Martin Road, formerly of Jackson, NC, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Autumn Care of Biscoe. Funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Jackson Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Johnson, Rev. Billy Howell, and Rev. Warren Heitzenrater officiating. Interment will be in Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM at the church. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Candor with the Rev. Michael Free officiating. Mrs. Bridgers was born in Jackson, NC to Whit and Susannah Martin Stephenson. She was a loving mother and friend to all; a member of the Eastern Star Emera 119 and Star 111 Chapter; and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bridgers and daughter, Margaret Lynn Bridgers. Surviving are her children, Whit S. Bridgers of Jackson, Susan B. Walton of Elon, Dean and Joe Dawkins of Biscoe, Tom and Betty Bridgers of Rich Square; grandchildren, Jay Walton (Robin) of Wilson, Heather Walton Shuman of Palisade, CO, Cassie Bridgers Burt (Travis) of Greenville, NC, Stephanie Walton Sells, of Burlington, Whit Bridgers, II, Marion Garner of Mt. Gilead, Ian Garner of Greensboro; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 nephews; 4 nieces; numerous dearly loved friends and extended family. Memorials may be made to Jackson Baptist Church, Church Street, Jackson, NC 27845 or Tabernacle Baptist Church, PO Box 400, Biscoe, NC 27229.
