Mary Lou Anderson

Mary Lou Finch Anderson, 84, of Biscoe, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on December 18, 2025.

Born on November 19, 1941, in Chesterfield, South Carolina, Mary was the daughter of Floyd and Lawton Elizabeth Skipper Finch. She devoted many years of her life to her career as a journalist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold "Gene" Anderson and daughter Brandy Odom.

She is survived by her children, Lewis Perkins (Dragana) of Sunrise, FL, Donald Perkins (Teri) of Wadesboro, NC, Cathie Winffel (Carlos) of Gaithersburg, MD, and Douglas Anderson of Silver Spring, MD.  Grandchildren: Amanda Shea; Kate McClain; Ruby Perkins; J and Oliver Perkins, Maximillian, Darren, and Abbigail Winffel. As well as great grandchildren Daniel, Gabriel, Emily, Zach, Alec, llene, Angela, Jackie, Laura-Alice, Giovanni and Esperanza.

A memorial service will be held Sunday December 21, 2025, 2:00 pm at Star United Methodist Church with Rev. Haley Capps officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service from 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm in the sanctuary.  Refreshments will be served following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall. The memorial service will be live streamed on the Facebook home page of Star United Methodist Church.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the MCC Foundation Gene Anderson Gunsmithing Endowed Scholarship Fund at 1011 Page St., Troy, NC 27371.
