Mary Hancock Neese

Denton - Mary Hancock Neese, 93, formerly of the Steeds Community, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Carillon Assisted Living of Asheboro. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, August 9, 2013, at Asbury Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Wayne Bryson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Neese was born in Montgomery County to Remus and Maude McNeill Hancock. She was retired from Montgomery County Schools where she worked in food service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper S. Neese; brothers, Wade Davis, Shuford Hancock, Junior Hancock, Ira Hancock, Arnold J. Hancock, Howard Davis; and daughter-in-law, Janie Cole. She is survived by her son, J. T. Cole, of Denton; sister, Della Gillis, of Seagrove; brother, Elzy Hancock, of Carthage; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. Memorials may be made to Asbury Baptist Church, 395 Asbury Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341.
