Seagrove Nellie Mae Freeman Bean, 93, of 1711 Upper Road, died peacefully surrounded by her family at home on Monday, September 23, 2013. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 26, at Center Cross Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Grant Hoffman, Terry Bean, and Rev. Justus McKeel officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. "Mama" was born in Randolph County to Neil Bailey and Ora Jane Richardson Freeman. She was a housewife, babysitter, and lifetime gardener. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her huge vegetable and flower gardens. She loved her family, siblings, nieces, nephews, and babies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Justin Harold Bean; son, Roger Harold Bean; grandson, Kenneth Cranford; parents; siblings, Annie Wilson, Lee Freeman, Walter Freeman, Conie King, Joe Freeman, Dempsey Freeman, Gladys McLeod, and Mildred Chrisco. She is survived by daughters, Sharon Thompson and husband, Ronnie, Amelia Cranford and husband, Ken, Nancy Garner and husband, Bobby, all of Seagrove; son, Laney Bean of Seagrove; daughter-in-law, Joyce Reeder Bean of Seagrove; sisters, Mamie Hare of Seagrove, Stacey Cornelison and husband, James, of Asheboro, Rachel Smith and husband, Buster, of Asheboro; brother, Wesley Freeman and wife, Nellie, of Asheboro; sisters-in-law, Kitty Freeman of Newport News, VA and Faye Freeman of Asheboro; grandchildren, Chris, Terry, and Kerry Bean, Sonya Crissman, Alan Thompson, Chad and Jonathan Cranford, Brittany Parker, Melissa Wiseman, Brandi and Amber Garner; great-grandchildren, Haley, Kaylyn, Joshua and Jacob Bean, Madison and Mason Bean, Athan, Bradon, and Caibrey Thompson, Hannah Crissman, Caleb and Leo Cranford, Brennan Cranford, Karleigh, Kellsie, and Kason Parker, Megan, Alex, Collin, Makenna, and Mckenzie Wiseman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 25, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. A special thanks to all her caregivers, Randy Sheffield, Amber Garner, Brandi Garner, Ronnie Thompson, Sonya, Jay, and Hannah Crissman, Athan, Bradon, and Caibrey Thompson, Chris Bean, Jonathan Cranford, Megan Wiseman, Lura Nylor, Ivey Linsay, Aaron, Renee, and Thomas Freeman.
