Star - Rayford "Ray" Mabe, age 80, of 585 Owen Street, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Star Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Gus Feather officiating. Interment will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

Mr. Mabe was born in Montgomery County to Walter Banner and Annie Mabe Mabe. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired machine operator with McIntosh Lumber and also a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Anna Wallace Mabe, and brothers, Harles, Bryant, and Ojay Mabe.

Surviving are his sisters, Annie Lee McDaniel of Star, Sue Mason of Aberdeen; 14 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star and other times at the home of James and Annie Lee McDaniel, 228 Mabe Road, Star.
