Robert Leach Asbill

Boone - Robert Leach "R.L." Asbill, Jr., 62, of 309 Roxanna Street, formerly of Biscoe, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Watauga Medical Center in Boone. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Page Memorial UMC in Biscoe with the Rev. Lacy V. Frye officiating. Mr. Asbill was born in Moore County to Robert L. and Helen Hurley Asbill. He was a retired rural letter carrier with the US Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Anna Morton Asbill, of the home; step-daughter, Kimberly Day, of Indian Trail; sisters, Barbara Ewing and husband, Billy, of Rome, GA, Sheila Mabe and husband, Mitchell, of Star; step-grandchildren, Rachael and Christopher; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NC State University Athletics Department, Campus Box 8502, 2500 Warren-Brown Athletic Facility, Raleigh, NC 27695. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
