Ruth Stout Burgess

Ruth Stout Burgess, 85, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Randolph Hospice House. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Star United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Whynot Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM. Ruth was born in Star to Carl and Ruth Maness Stout. She was a retired teacher's assistant at Lindley Park Elementary School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bill Burgess; sisters, Kathleen and Martha; and brothers, Carl, Cecil, Frank, Freddie, Ralph, Archie, and Hal. Ruth brought joy and life to her family and friends whom she truly loved. She was lovingly known as "Baby Ruth" to her family and "Blondie" to her childhood friends. Some of her most cherished times were spending a week every year at Wrightsville Beach at the annual Stout Family Reunion. She also loved cooking Sunday lunches for her family and anyone else who happened to be in the neighborhood. Her quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughters, Billie Moody and husband, Ritchie, Sara Brennan and husband, Mark; son, David Burgess; brothers, Neil Stout and wife, Joanne, George Stout and wife, Carmen; grandchildren, Bryan Moody and wife, Ashley, Mandee Hunter and husband, Jess, Darren, Christopher, and Blake Brennan, Kelli and Allison Burgess; great-grandchildren, Montgomery and Tess Moody. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Pre-school, 420 West Walker Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203 or Hospice of Randolph, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Star United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Whynot Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM.
