Sandra Lynn Liles Callicutt

Troy - Sandra Lynn Liles Callicutt of 193 Archies Lane, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 20, at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Bob Freeman and Rev. Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Sandra was born on August 3, 1940 to Herman L. Liles and Doris Nelson Liles in Morehead City, NC. She received her GED from Montgomery Community College. She retired from the Montgomery County Schools from a job she loved where she worked with exceptional needs children as assistant teacher. She was an active member of Callicutt Wesleyan Church in Troy, where she served as Sunday School teacher and director of Children's Church. She served as a board member of the Montgomery County Department of Social Services and as precinct chairman for the Montgomery County Board of Elections at the Ophir voting location. She enjoyed line dancing with the senior citizen group, working with children, and doing crafts. She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Joseph A. Callicutt, of the home; daughter, Violet Callicutt Britt and husband, Gene Britt, of Troy; son, Anthony "Charlie" Callicutt and wife, Marie L. Callicutt, of Troy; son, Jeffrey L. Callicutt, of Burlington; son, John Paul Callicutt and wife, Annette H. Callicutt, of Troy; son, Gary E. Callicutt and wife, Tonya Callicutt, of Troy; daughter, Nancy Callicutt Herron and husband, Peter Herron, of Troy; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Salter, Jr., of Palmyra, VA; sister, Dot S. Versteg, of Greensboro; brother, Jerry Nelson, of Sea Level; brother, Terry Liles, of Keysville, VA; and sister, Toni L. Jordan, of Troy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street in Star and other times at the home.
