Sherman Freeman

Star - Mr. Sherman Freeman, Jr., 89, died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at FirstHealth Moore Regional.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Shady Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Jerry Freeman and Rev. Clyde Allen officiating with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Jean Whitaker.

Mr. Freeman was born in Montgomery County to Sherman Freeman, Sr. and Thelma Rea Wallace Freeman. He was a retired auto mechanic, a member of Guiding Light Baptist Church, and was a WWII veteran of the US Army. He loved gardening, flowers, and cattle.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Treva Allen Freeman; daughter, Brenda Council and husband, Jimmy, of Southern Pines; son, Rev. Jerry L. Freeman and wife, Linda, of Marshall; brother, Raeford Freeman, of Grafton, VA; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
