Biscoe - Sidney Garfield Davis, 84, of Biscoe, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. Sidney is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Batten Davis, of the home; son; Steve Davis; daughter, Sherry Davis Lambert; grandson, Tryon Lambert; two sisters, Maude Morgan (J.E.) of Greensboro, Virginia Carter (Douglas) of Lake Tillery. Sidney was the son of the late Albert and Ruby Cooper Davis of Star. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Chalk, Audrey Moore, Faye Moore; six brothers, Pete, Reece, Bob, John, Gordon, and Clinton Davis. He was a US Army veteran. Before his retirement he was a self-employed painter and carpenter. He was a member of Biscoe Fire Department and remained active and interested in the retired fireman's group. He was an active member of Biscoe Presbyterian Church where his services included Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder. At one time he had 27 years of perfect attendance in Sunday school. He took a special interest in the youth, always paying special attention to the children on Sunday. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM on Sunday, March 9, at Biscoe Presbyterian Church with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Lax officiating. Interment will be in Biscoe Cemetery. The family request that memorials be made to the Biscoe Fire Department, PO Box 1228, Biscoe, NC 27209 or Biscoe Presbyterian Church, PO Box 638, Biscoe, NC 27209. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM on Sunday, March 9, at Biscoe Presbyterian Church with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Lax officiating. Interment will be in Biscoe Cemetery.
