Seagrove - Thelma King Comer, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 23, 2018. She passed away quietly at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Montgomery County, NC on January 18, 1935 to the late Virgil and Martisha Aqualine Ashworth King. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband of 62 years, Adam Garland Comer, and siblings, Opal King Adcock, Viola King Kivett, Emma King Trotter, and Warren King.
She is survived by her son, "James" Garland Comer of Seagrove; daughter, Patsy Comer Harris (Steve) of Siler City; brother, Clifford King (Naomi) of Seagrove; Mary King Bullins of Sophia; grandchildren, James "Jimmy" Comer (Ai) of Emerald Isle, Ginger Harris Bartholomew (Kirsten) of Sanford, Tiffany Comer Markewich (Stephen) of Bismarck, ND, Bradley Harris (April) of Siler City, Adam Comer (Priya) of Taylor, MI, Stacy Harris Hicks (Ben) of Siler City; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Thelma was an active member of Asbury Baptist Church and dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed participating in the Senior Ladies Sunday School class, attending ladies circle, and singing in the choir. She was a faithful prayer warrior and enjoyed studying the Bible. She loved to sew, knit, quilt, crochet, and garden. She loved spending time with her family and cooking for them.
The family will receive friends and family Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, Star.
The funeral service will be Monday, June 25 at 2:00 pm at Asbury Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Bryson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
