Vera Williamson McAlister

Vera Williamson McAlister, 88, of Biscoe, died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living.

Graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, April 18, at Maness Family Cemetery, Cotton Creek Road, Biscoe, with the Rev. Josh Powers, Rev. Larry Wilson, and Rev. Vic Hill officiating.

Mrs. McAlister was born in Montgomery County to Millard and Alva Hare Williamson. She taught for forty-two years in Montgomery County Schools and was a member of First Baptist Church Biscoe. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McAlister was predeceased by her husband, David Thomas McAlister, Sr. and her granddaughter, Meredith Smith.

Surviving are one son, Tommy McAlister (Gail) of Biscoe; three daughters, Lois Poole (Linwood) of Wendell, Barbara Smith (Jerry) of Biscoe, Sylvia McAlister of the home; five grandchildren, Amie Poole, Reid McAlister, Crystal Spivey, Jeremy Smith, Mary Williams; and seven great-grandchildren, Alex McAlister, Maegan McAlister, Tucker Spivey, Meredith Spivey, Tyler Smith, Layla Smith, Zachary Williams.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, April 17, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star.
