William Edgar Cagle Jr., age 81, of Seagrove, passed away on November 23, 2024.
Born on May 26, 1943, in Montgomery County to William and Nerva Beane Cagle Sr. William dedicated 37 years of his career to Burlington Industries, where he worked in the electrical maintenance department. He was a member and deacon of Asbury Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for over 30 years, and proudly maintained Sunday School perfect attendance for 53 years. William had a passion for automobiles, he also enjoyed tending to his yard, and the cherished moments spent with his family and beloved dog, Charlie. Above all, he held a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Mr. Cagle was preceded in death by his first wife Mabel Comer Cagle, son William Edgar "Eddie" Cagle III and his sister Mary Belle Cagle Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife Rachel Goad Cagle of the home, son Lynn Cagle of Asheboro; daughter Rhonda Mashburn (June) of Seagrove; step-son Phillip Goad of Asheboro and in-laws LaVonne Ritter, Rosalie Booker, and Cheryl Comer. As well as grandchildren Isabelle Mashburn, Tolyn Cagle, Landon Goad, Gavin Goad and great grandchild Ariel Goad.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Phillips Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Asbury Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Mashburn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
