Wilton Lee Hancock, 77, Robbins, died Saturday, February 14, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, at Brown's Chapel Christian Church, Robbins, with Rev. Jeff Karnes and Rev. Gary Waisner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Moore County on May 27, 1937 to Hurley and Lillie Deaton Hancock, he was a welder/pipe fitter for Union 785 of Raleigh, and was a member of Elise Mason Lodge 555. Mr. Hancock was known to his friends as the "Mayor of Spies." He loved his family, tractors, garden, making the tastiest jelly, and joking with his friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hancock was predeceased by his brothers, Marvin, Junior, and Bobby. Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Norene M. Hancock, of the home; daughters, Tina Hussey (Larry) of Robbins, Teresa Hancock of Carthage, Tammy Galloway of Robbins, Torrie Furr (James) of Robbins; brother, Thurman Hancock of Seagrove; sisters, Verlene Aderholt of Mt. Gilead, Vera Needham of Robbins; grandchildren, Jeremy Hussey (Stacey), Amber Schofield (Andrew), Brandon McNeill (Katie), Ethan Galloway (Alisha), Caleb Galloway, Natalie Furr, Elliott Furr; and, great-grandson, Wyatt Schofield. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 Sunday, February 15, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. At other times, they will be at the residence, 2164 Spies Road, Robbins. Special thanks go to FirstHealth Hospice. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, at Brown’s Chapel Christian Church, Robbins, with Rev. Jeff Karnes and Rev. Gary Waisner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 Sunday, February 15, at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star. At other times, they will be at the residence, 2164 Spies Road, Robbins.
